A woman from Leichhardt in Ipswich, Queensland, is celebrating a life-changing win after securing $20 million in the Powerball draw.
The woman, who was the only Division One winner, received the surprising news early this morning from a lotto official. Overwhelmed, she exclaimed, “Oh my god! Oh my god! You’re joking? How does this happen? Oh, my goodness. I don’t know what to say. I’m shaking. Thank you so much.”
While she doesn’t buy a ticket every week, the woman has previously won small amounts, such as $11. However, this win is a major shift in her fortune.
She already has plans for the money, saying, “I’ll be seeking financial advice right away. I can pay off my children’s mortgages, and I might finally take a holiday. I haven’t had one in years. My passport must be expired; I’ll have to get it renewed.”
The woman purchased her winning ticket online at The Lott. The winning numbers were 11, 7, 21, 17, 9, 13, and 24, with the Powerball number 11.
