Texas Player Wins $100,000 in Powerball, Jackpot Climbs to $100 Million

by Nancy

A Powerball player in Texas came close to winning the $89 million jackpot but still walked away with a $100,000 prize. The player matched four of the five winning numbers, plus the Powerball, in the April 12 drawing, according to the Texas Lottery.

By adding the Power Play option, the player doubled their $50,000 prize to $100,000. The winning numbers for the drawing were 16, 22, 44, 45, 53, and the Powerball number was 19.

No one won the jackpot in this drawing, causing it to grow to $100 million. The next drawing, scheduled for Monday, April 14, will offer a cash prize of approximately $44.8 million.

In total, more than 460,000 other Powerball tickets across the United States won prizes ranging from $4 to $50,000.

To win the Powerball jackpot, players must match all five white balls and the red Powerball. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. Powerball tickets can be purchased on the day of the drawing, though sales times and prices vary by state. Drawings are held on Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET, and they can also be streamed online.

Powerball is available in 45 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
