UK Euromillions players have missed out on a record-breaking £209 million jackpot, which was claimed by a lucky participant from Austria. The winning numbers for the draw were 10, 21, 30, 42, and 45.
This marks the largest-ever Euromillions payout, with Austria now holding the record for the most jackpot wins. According to Austria’s lottery operator, the country has claimed the top prize 19 times since the competition began.
No one won the £182 million jackpot in Tuesday’s draw, which meant the prize carried over to Friday’s draw, resulting in the new record win. The latest winner surpassed the previous record of £195 million, claimed by an anonymous player on 19 July 2022.
Earlier in 2022, Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester set a new record of £184 million with a Lucky Dip ticket for the 10 May draw. This was later followed by the UK’s The third-biggest win was when an anonymous player scooped £177 million in the 26 November 2022 draw.
Mr. Thwaite described his reaction to winning: “I woke up early and saw an email saying we had won. I checked the amount, and I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t go back to sleep,” he said. His wife, Ms. Thwaite, was initially in disbelief, suspecting either her husband had made a mistake or that the National Lottery had sent the wrong information.
After continuing with her morning routine, the couple confirmed their win with Camelot. “The win gives us time to dream, something we’ve never had before,” said Ms. Thwaite. “We now have the opportunity to create special memories and go on adventures with our family and friends. Our two children have always wanted to go to Hawaii, and now we can make that dream a reality.”
The Thwaites also plan to upgrade their ponies’ transport. “They’ve always wanted a horse box instead of our old trailer. Seeing their faces when we make that happen will be worth every penny,” she added.
