Adrian Bayford, who won £148 million in the Euromillions lottery in 2012, has canceled his plans to build a children’s theme park on his country estate. Bayford, who was previously a postman, had submitted an application for the project just two months ago, but he has now officially withdrawn it.
In 2023, the 54-year-old proposed turning 20 acres of his large estate into a “leisure destination.” The plans included education facilities, a train ride, a renewable energy-themed play barn, and a maze. The theme park would have featured five outdoor play zones at his Grade II-listed property, Horseheath Lodge, located near the Suffolk-Cambridgeshire border.
The development was set to offer various attractions, including sensory trails, den building, tractor tours, animal encounters, and visits to a walled garden. A 90-space car park was also part of the plans, and the site was intended to operate daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
However, the plans faced strong opposition from the local parish council, which expressed concerns over potential flooding, increased traffic, and the impact on the nearby walled garden.
