R110 Million Powerball Jackpot Winner Urged to Claim Prize

by Nancy

JOHANNESBURG – A lucky person could be sitting on an unclaimed R110 million Powerball jackpot, and they might not even know it yet.

Ithuba, the National Lottery operator, is urging the winner of the April 8 Powerball drawing to come forward and claim their prize. According to Michelle van Trotsenburg of Ithuba, the ticket was purchased through the FNB banking app, with a R30 wager, using the Quick Pick method.

Van Trotsenburg expressed concern that many winners who use banking apps may miss crucial calls informing them of their win. “When people receive calls from banks or institutions, they often assume they are being sold something, and they may not realize the call is related to the lottery,” she explained.

To avoid missing out on their winnings, van Trotsenburg advises ticket holders to answer calls from the bank if they have recently purchased a national lottery ticket. “If you get a call from the bank the very next day, please take the call,” she said.

Winners have 365 days to claim their prize. If the prize remains unclaimed, the money will be donated to a good cause.
