VENICE, Fla. — A Sarasota County resident has won a $25 million top prize after playing a $50 scratch-off ticket from a local gas station, according to the Florida Lottery.
Kyle Lindquist, 45, of Venice, purchased the “500X the Cash” scratch-off game in December 2024 and claimed his prize this week. The Florida Lottery announced the win in a statement released Friday, April 18.
Lindquist chose the lump-sum cash option and received a one-time payout of $16 million. He bought the winning ticket at the Circle K gas station located at 101 U.S. Highway 41 Bypass S. in Venice. The store received a $50,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.
The $50 “500X the Cash” scratch-off game offers two top prizes of $25 million and 160 prizes of $1 million. The overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 4.23, according to the Florida Lottery.
Since January 2024, 88 people have won $1 million playing the game. Lindquist is the first person to claim one of the two top prizes, leaving one more $25 million jackpot still unclaimed. The odds of winning $1 million in this game are 1 in 274,004, while the odds of winning $25 million are 1 in 21,920,355.
In other lottery news, an Ohio ticket claimed a $112 million Mega Millions jackpot on Friday, April 18. It was the first jackpot win since the updated version of the Mega Millions game began earlier this month. The next Mega Millions drawing is set for April 22 with an estimated jackpot of $50 million.
Meanwhile, the Powerball jackpot rolled over on Saturday, April 19. The estimated prize for the April 21 drawing is now $139 million.
