Son Discovers Winning EuroMillions Ticket Among Late Mother’s Belongings

by Nancy

Liam Carter, a 34-year-old from Bispham, made a remarkable discovery while sorting through his late mother’s possessions. Among the items in her kitchen drawer, he found a folded envelope containing a EuroMillions ticket. The ticket was for the draw held on Friday, April 18, 2025, just two days after his mother, Anne, had passed away.

In an interview with Playcasino.com, Liam explained that the envelope was marked with his mother’s handwriting. She had written “Sat draw – don’t forget!” on the front. “I nearly ignored it, but something told me to check,” Liam said. Using the National Lottery app, he scanned the ticket and was stunned to see it was a winner, although he was told he needed to call the lottery line for further details.

On Saturday, Liam contacted the lottery, and what he heard left him speechless. The ticket had matched five main numbers — 20, 27, 35, 39, and 48 — missing only the two Lucky Stars, 03 and 08. The prize: £18,043.

“When they told me, I just froze. I must’ve gone quiet on the phone. It didn’t feel real. She never won anything big in her life — and now this,” Liam recalled. He shared that his mother, who had played the lottery every week, always kept her tickets in the same spot — the kitchen drawer.

“She always said if she ever won, the money would be for me,” he added. “Even though she never knew about this win, it really felt like something she left behind for me. Like one final gift.”

Liam plans to use the winnings to make a deposit on a flat, something his mother had always encouraged him to work towards.
